It's not a crime to be kind to yourself.
I know this may seem a bit random but I've been immersed in
survivor stories for the last few days alongside all my other jobs; be that the
radio, writing, my community activism, project management, and of course family
life and commitments.
Emotional and psychological maintenance is as essential to
our wellbeing as is the need to maintain our bodies physically through food and
exercise. Doing things that help keep us in balance will aid us in being more
effective, efficient and productive insh'Allah.
I suppose I'm just sharing as a reminder to myself, and if
others may benefit that we must learn to stop. Take time out to reflect. Be
kind to ourselves, and not feel guilty about it. Self-care is important and
necessary.
May we create space for it.
